OTWorld Opens With "Mission Possible"
On 14 May 2024, OTWorld launches its journey into a future of orthopaedic treatment and care without limits under the motto "Mission Possible". At the opening ceremony, the global community is invited to join the mission to make possible what seems impossible.
Together with navigators Alf Reuter, President of the German Association of Orthopaedic Technology (BIV-OT), Martin Buhl-Wagner, Managing Director of Leipziger Messe, and moderator Henning Quanz, guests at OTWorld can set out to explore the universe of options for providing orthopaedic treatment and care.
The journey begins with a welcome message by Dr Peter Liese, Member of the European Parliament, Coordinator (Spokesperson) of the EPP Group Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety and Emanuel Cohet, Envoy of the French Embassy in Germany. They aim to encourage attendees to go beyond the usual limits. The highlight of the ceremony is an appearance by special guest John McFall. As the first astronaut with a physical disability, he serves as a guiding star to show that even outer space is within reach with the right support and customised orthopaedic aids. The ceremony finishes with a selected crew of innovative thinkers in discussion with moderator Henning Quanz. The conversation between Alf Reuter, Martin Buhl-Wagner, David Constantine, President of ISPO International and Congress Presidents Ingo Pfefferkorn (Dipl.-Ing FH), Master of Prosthetics and Orthotics and Prof. Dr med. Thomas Wirth, Medical Director of the Orthopaedic Clinic at the Klinikum Stuttgart will explore ways to push the boundaries of orthopaedic treatment and care.
At the official opening ceremony, visitors have the opportunity to network with like-minded colleagues from around the world and set a course for the stars together, leaving all limits behind.
