Thomas Münch, certified orthopedic technician and managing director of Münch & Hahn GmbH & Co. KG in Duisburg, has been shaping technical orthopedics in Germany for decades.

After training as an orthopedic technician, Münch successfully completed his master's degree at the Federal Technical College for Orthopedic Technology in Dortmund in 1986 and then took over the management of the long-established family business.

His expertise covers a wide range of sophisticated treatments. A particular focus is on burn bandages and face masks, which are specially developed for the needs of severe injuries.

In addition, he is a proven expert in lower leg prostheses, co-developer of the innovative heel relief orthosis (FEO), insoles, osseointegration solutions, and the development of finger orthoses. His extensive experience is complemented by numerous lectures and publications at OTWorld.

Throughout his career, Münch has also gained international experience: as early as 1983, he completed placements in Italy, Austria, and Switzerland, followed by a three-month stay in the USA in 1984. In 1994, he obtained the European Diploma in Orthotics and Prosthetics, further underlining his professional expertise at an international level.

In addition to his professional activities, Münch and his wife are involved in the Thomas and Erika Münch Family Foundation, which promotes education and research in orthopedic technology. With a clear vision for the future of technical orthopedics, he wants to make OTWorld 2026 a global catalyst for the industry as congress president.

“OTWorld is a place of exchange, innovation, and cooperation. We want to further expand the synergies between technology, medicine, and therapy in order to set global standards,” emphasizes Münch.

In his private life, Thomas Münch finds balance in his hobbies of sailing, skiing, golf, and volunteer work. His volunteer work is reflected not only in the foundation, but also in his many years as master craftsman and board member of the Düsseldorf Guild of Orthopedic Technology, where he is deeply committed to the further development of the industry.

With his passion for technical orthopedics and his outstanding expertise, Thomas Münch will make OTWorld 2026 another significant milestone for medical device supply.
