OTWorld 2024: Call for Papers for the world congress

Under the slogan "Join the progress", manufacturers, retailers and service providers in the field of modern medical aids and equipment will be getting together at OTWorld in Leipzig from 14 to 17 May 2024. The leading international Trade Show and world congress offer a mix of innovation and education for prosthetists and orthotists, orthopaedic footwear professionals, doctors, physiotherapists as well as healthcare suppliers and manufacturers. Scientific abstracts can now be submitted.

From a global perspective, the provision of orthopaedic treatment and care for people with disabilities takes many forms, depending on the different social and health systems in place. Such provision should always prioritise the individual, their need for mobility and their right to participate in daily life. "If you wish to provide better mobility and quality of life for your patients and are interested in meeting colleagues from all over the world to exchange experiences and discuss the best treatment options, all you have to do is come to Leipzig every other year," explains Alf Reuter, President of the German Association for Orthopaedic Technology (BIV-OT) and conceptual partner of OTWorld. "Here at OTWorld, you can see big world market leaders showcasing their products and services alongside specialist companies and manufacturing start-ups. You can also visit the leading World Congress. It is the only World Congress that invites everyone involved in interdisciplinary and interprofessional orthopaedic treatment and care to an exchange of views and experiences on equal terms."

Call for Papers

The World Congress at OTWorld is the most significant congress in technical orthopaedics. The main issue under discussion here amongst colleagues in the industry from home and abroad is how to improve everyday treatment and care. The portfolio of subjects ranges from prosthetics and orthotics, foot and shoe, rehabilitation, biomechanics, paediatric orthopaedics and neuro-orthopaedics to digitisation digitalisation and education. It also includes open topics in the areas of sports orthopaedics, parasports and materials research as well as measurement and production technology.

The deadline for abstract submissions is 17 September 2023. Full submission details can be found here: www.ot-world.com/en/callforpapers .

Over the next few months, a team led by Congress Presidents Professor Dr Thomas Wirth, Medical Director of the Orthopaedic Clinic in Stuttgart, and master orthopaedic technician Ingo Pfefferkorn (Dipl.-Ing. FH) will be compiling a comprehensive four-day programme. The Congress Programme is expected to be available online on the OTWorld website in January 2024.

Innovation on Display at the Industry Exhibition

With the Call for Papers for the World Congress, preparations for the greatest display of new products worldwide will also start. "At OTWorld, the entire industry meets to enjoy a unique presentation of innovative products and services as well as benefiting from interdisciplinary knowledge transfer. All professionals in specialist orthopaedic care teams come together here in Leipzig to take treatment for patients needing medical aids to the next level", says Martin Buhl-Wagner, Managing Director of Leipziger Messe. "I am very proud that Leipziger Messe is able to play an active role in offering a platform for this World Congress and Leading World Trade Show and help provide support for global exchange in the medical aids industry. This aspect has become increasingly significant in these times of global change with long-term supply problems and shortages of raw materials."

Spread over three halls, international market leaders and start-ups from all over the world will be presenting their innovative products and services from high-tech prosthetics and orthotics, orthopaedic footwear technology and modern manufacturing processes to 3D printing.
